Definition of “Equity Beta” :

Equity Beta, also known as leveraged beta, is a measure of the systematic risk of a stock compared to the overall market. It indicates how much the stock’s price is expected to move in relation to market movements. In South Africa, like anywhere else, a beta greater than 1 suggests the stock is more volatile than the market, while a beta less than 1 indicates less volatility.
