A Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) is a type of structured financial instrument in which the issuer pools together a portfolio of loans and sells different risk classes of securities to investors. These securities are backed by the cash flows from the underlying loans. This process allows the issuer to transfer the credit risk of the loans to the investors.
